After protests, BJP expels Rajasthan neta for remarks on gurdwaras | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Rajasthan BJP leader Sandeep Dayma was expelled from the party on Sunday following strong protests by Sikh organisations due to his contentious statement concerning gurdwaras during an election rally on November 1, sources said.
“I accept the decision taken by the party,” Dayma said. Although BJP has not made an official announcement regarding his expulsion, sources said the decision to take action against him was prompted by his mention of gurdwaras.
During his speech at the nomination rally of Baba Balak Nath, the BJP candidate for the Tijara constituency, Dayma referred to the proliferation of mosques, madrasas, and gurdwaras as “sores”.UP CMYogi Adityanath was at the event.
His speech went viral, and protests erupted in Punjab and Rajasthan. Recognising his mistake, Dayma promptly issued an apology. He also pledged to visit gurdwaras to personally apologise for his remarks.
BJP’s Punjab unit officially registered its protest with the party’s high command on Saturday. Former Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh called for strict action against Dayma.
