Jaipur: Captain Anil Choudhary, a sailing captain in merchant navyfrom India, has been recently awarded the Seafarers Award for Rescue on November 2 in Singapore. The grand event was organised by The Mission to Seafarers and was attended by all major shipping companies of the world. In October, Choudhary was also awarded with International Safety at Sea Award 2023 with a letter of appreciation from Singapore National Maritime Safety at Sea Council.Earlier, he was awarded prestigious Sagar Samman Award 2023 for Gallantry by National Maritime Day Celebration committee (NMDC) of the DG Shipping of India on the occasion of National Maritime Day. tnn

Japan’s PM Kishida strengthens alliances amid maritime tensions on Philippine patrol ship tour
Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida visited a Philippine patrol ship in Manila harbor as a symbol of solidarity against China’s assertiveness in maritime disputes. He discussed defense cooperation with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and expressed hopes for regional peace and prosperity. Japan has supplied the Philippines with twelve patrol ships, including the Magbanua, which has brought the Philippine vessels into potential conflict with China. Kishida and Marcos agreed to initiate negotiations for a defense pact and Japan will supply coastal surveillance radars to the Philippine navy. Kishida also committed to ongoing support for strengthening the Philippine military and maritime agencies.
