Alok Kumar: Mehangai Relief Camps Halt Routine Works At Collectorate & Civic Bodies | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Alok Kumar, a resident of Ajonta village in Phagi tehsil of Jaipur, has visited Jaipur district collectorate office at least three times in the last 40 days to update a few details in his BPL card following an advice by his local SDM.
“In the last 10 days, I had come down to Jaipur thrice. Every time I went to the department concerned, I had been asked to come at a later date. Officials said they are shot of manpower,” Kumar alleged.
A few others like Kumar are also having a tough time to get their jobs done. They also alleged that files are moving at a very slow pace at the collectorate. “Works are going on at a very slow pace at the collectorate office. I had visited the office for the last few days for a land registration related work. But officials here are only borrowing time,” said Lalchand Meena, a 57-year-old resident from Amer.
A section of collectorate officials claimed that inflation relief camps at various locations in the city is primarily responsible for this shortage of manpower. Several officials from the collectorate are being deployed at these camps regularly on a rotational basis.
A senior ADM-ranked official from the collectorate, who did not want to quoted, explained that besides the relief camps, there is another factor that played a major role in bringing down the manpower.
“We had planned deployment at the relief camps in a way that it does not affect regular works at the collectorate. But almost half of the ministerial employees of the state had gone on a strike. The second factor had increased the problem manifold,” he added.
A similar situation is prevailing even at Jaipur municipal corporations. The government had opened two camps at the two municipal corporation offices. Regular works are also getting affected here.
“Most residents are registered with almost all government schemes. Still, the government has opened these camps only to collect data. Common people are being harassed at these camps and even at government offices, too,” alleged Puneet Karnawat, the deputy mayor of JMC-Greater.
