Jaipur: Rajasthan’s left-arm seamer Aniket Choudhary, all-rounders Anirudh Singh and Rohan Rajbhar were on Friday declared winners of the 29th Mathuradas Mathur Awards in the senior, junior and sub-junior category respectively. The selection committee headed by former Ranji player Ved Ahuja unanimously selected the winners on the basis of their performance during the last domestic season. Other members of the selection committee were former captain Sanjay Vyas, Sharad Joshi, Vijender Yadav, Rohit Jhalani and Gaurav Sharma.
Mandhana dazzles for Southern Brave:
India vice-captain Smriti Mandhana struck a scintillating half-century to help Southern Brave crush Trent Rockets by 10 wickets and book their place in the knockout stages of The Hundred. Mandhana impressed with a 31-ball 57 that included nine fours and two maximums after Lauren Bell (4-10) picked up the best figures of the season to restrict Rockets to 88/8 at the Ageas Bowl. Chasing a below par total, Mandhana joined forces with fellow opener England‘s Danni Wyatt (36 off 25) as the hosts cruised to victory with 44 balls to spare. Historic gold for Judoka Linthoi:
India’s Linthoi Chanambam claimed a historic gold at the World Cadet Judo Championship in Sarajevo, becoming the first from the country to win a medal across any age-group. The 15-year-old from Manipur prevailed over Brazil’s Bianca Reis to claim gold in the women’s 57kg contest at the Arena Hotel Hills.
Duplantis soars to pole vault victory:
Olympic champion and world record holder Armand Duplantis won the Lausanne Diamond League pole vault competition staged on the banks of Lake Geneva on Thursday. The 22-year-old Swedish star again put his rivals in the shade with a winning 6.10m vault achieved on his third attempt.
Audi set to enter Formula One:
German manufacturer Audi will enter Formula One in 2026 in line with new engine regulations, chairman Markus Duesmann said on Friday.
