Animal is Ranbir Kapoor’s biggest day 1 opener with Rs 61 crore

Ranbir Kapoorstormed into the hearts of everyone with his debut with Saawariya 15 years ago, but it is only that he is hitting his true box office potential. His latest offering Animal with Sandeep Reddy Vanga has turned out to be his biggest opening of his career with minting Rs 61 crore across languages , with Rs 50.50 crore coming from Hindi and Rs 10 crore coming from Telugu and rest from the remaining three languages ; Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.His biggest box office opener till now was Brahmastra;Part One-Shiva which had made Rs 36 .42 crore on day 1.Animal is also expected to do a gross worldwide collection of over Rs 100 crores, with USA already adding about Rs 11 crores into the kitty just from its premiere shows and it is expected to cross $3.8 million mark tomorrow, which is its break even point.

Animal had a strong presence in the Delhi NCR region with 1318 shows and an impressive 79% occupancy. In Mumbai, the film had 1040 shows with a solid 55% occupancy. In the Telugu market, specifically Hyderabad, the film boasted 316 shows with an impressive 82% occupancy. Meanwhile, the Tamil version in Chennai had 88 shows but a relatively lower 30% occupancy.The biggest opening across languages this year has been Jawan with Rs 75 crore , while Animal takes the second spot, but when it comes to just Hindi collection Animal moves to third spot as Pathaan had collected Rs 55 crore in Hindi on its day 1.
Ranbir’s past few releases have been a hit and miss at the box office like list last release Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar has opened to just Rs 15.73 crore, while Sanju had opened to Rs 34.75 crore.
