Jaipur: After two incidents of the structure of the Night Market at Jal Mahal collapsing, JMC-Heritage administration said they have started investigating the matter and issued a warning to the company that set up the market. On Monday, the Night Market’s gate collapsed due to heavy rain.
On January 20, a makeshift iron structure erected for the market crashed on a cab. No one was injured.
Officials said the private company that set up the market have been given a warning on checking the safety measures while setting up the structures.
“We are checking if the previous incident and Monday’s case was due to laxity on the company’s part or if it was just an accident. We are checking it very strictly as safety of tourists and nearby residents is very important. We have already issued a warning to the company and are checking all the details.
On Monday, it could be due to continuous heavy rain, but still safety of anyone visiting the market is very important to us,” said Vishram Meena, commissioner JMC-Heritage.
Tourists and residents have also been raising the issue of the private company setting up the night market from Thursday or Friday itself for the weekend, blocking the view of Jal Mahal. tnn
