Assembly Elections: Bjp Gives Tickets To 13 New Faces, Among Them Cong Turncoat Mla |
Jaipur: The BJP released its sixth and final list of three candidates for the assembly elections on Sunday, hours after a fifth list of 15 candidates. Congress sitting MLA in Bari, Girriraj Singh Malinga, has been given the ticket from Bari constituency hours after he joined BJP.
BJP has exhibited faith in 13 fresh faces, among them two who have been chosen as replacements for Kolayat and Baran-Atru seats.Anshuman Singh Bhati, the grandson of BJP leader Devi Singh Bhati, has been selected for Kolayat seat. This change follows the initial nomination of Bhati’s daughter-in-law Poonam Kanwar Bhati, on the third list, and was granted in response to a request from the Bhati family. Similarly, on the Baran-Atru seat, Sarika Chaudhary was replaced by Radheyshyam Bairwa.
The relatively unknown former municipal councillor Chandramohan Batvada has been given the opportunity to represent the Kishanpole constituency, challenging Congress MLA Congress Amin Khan. The selection of Batvada came as a surprise to many, including senior party leaders. Sources said Batvada’s name was endorsed by RSS and subsequently approved by Union home minister Amit Shah. This decision marks the end of the road for former Jaipur mayor Jyoti Khandelwal, a Congress turncoat who had joined BJP.
BJP opted to replace Dharamnarayan Joshi, its MLA from Mavli, with KG Paliwal who is among the new faces.
The list includes businessman Ravi Nayyar for Adarsh Nagar seat in Jaipur. This decision marks a departure from the convention of nominating former CM Vasundhara Raje’s close aide and former BJP state president Ashok Parnami from the seat. Nayyar has secured his ticket after two unsuccessful attempts in 2013 2018.
The party is fielding journalist Gopal Sharma against cabinet minister Pratap Singh Khachariywas of Congress for the Civil Lines constituency in Jaipur.
A noteworthy addition is Amit Chaudhary from Hanumangarh, the son of former health minister Dr Rampratap Chaudhary.
