Create isolation wards for Covid patients: SMS medical college | Jaipur News
JAIPUR: Authorities at Sawai Man Singh (SMS) medical college held a meeting on Tuesday with superintendents and heads of departments of its attached hospitals, to prepare for a possible surge in hospitalisation of Covid-19 patients.
Directions were given in the meeting to all hospitals attached with SMS, including Kanwatia, Mahila Chikitsalaya and Gangauri hospital, to create isolation wards for Covid patients.
Covid patients who develop complications will be shifted to RUHS hospital, it was decided, but otherwise the patients will be managed in the attached hospitals. During earlier Covid waves, the RUHS hospital had worked as a dedicated Covid-19 hospital and all Covid patients requiring hospitalisation were referred there.
“We have issued necessary directions and Dr Puneet Saxena has been made nodal officer for Covid-19 at SMS hospital,” said Dr Rajeev Bagarhatta, principal and controller, SMS medical college.
“If a patient has moderate symptoms, the attached hospitals have been directed to create an isolation ward where the patient can be admitted and managed as per the treatment protocol issued by ICMR recently,” he added.
On deaths happening due to Covid-19, Dr Bagarhatta said, “The deaths reported as Covid-19 deaths were of patients who were already sick, or had comorbidities. The mortality is quite low, which is a good indication. Most of the patients are recovering with mild treatment under home isolation.”
Dr Alok Goyal, in charge of Covid management at Kanwatia hospital, said that a six-bed isolation ward has been readied with oxygen support for Covid-19 patients.
