‘Avoid Jaipur-Delhi NH due to craters causing traffic snarls’ | Jaipur News
SP Jaipur (Rural) Rajeev Pachar said that the construction of overbridges is currently underway in Kotputli and Shahpura villages on NH-48.
“We have advised travellers to use the newly inaugurated Delhi-Dausa-Jaipur highway,” said Pachar, adding that police personnel have been deployed to resolve the long snarls.
The Jaipur (Rural) police officials said that due to ongoing construction works, traffic movement was already constrained and hampered. However, the recent two days of heavy rains have further exacerbated the situation, making it even more difficult.
Talking to TOI, an official reported that traffic snarls as long as 10 km were observed for a few hours before the police intervened.
Pachar also mentioned that several trucks were stuck in the long jams, and police teams were working round the clock with local authorities to facilitate their movement as soon as possible.
“There are several deep potholes on the highway, which have significantly impacted the traffic flow,” said Pachar.
The officials are concerned that with the weekend approaching, heavy traffic will flow from Gurugram and New Delhi towards Jaipur. Consequently, while alternative arrangements have been made for trucks to pass through the highway, police advised motorists to use the new highway.
Police said that they had informed the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) about the problem people were facing on the crucial highway.
“Not just the Delhi-Jaipur highway, but the same problem also persists on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway. NHAI officials privately told us that the issue is due to contractors,” said an official on the condition of anonymity.
Police said that the Kotputli-Shahpura stretch of the NH-48 is a particularly vulnerable spot and traffic which was passing through the slip lane came to a grinding halt on multiple occasions.
