Bar Council: Bar council chief bats for more facilities for witnesses in courts | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Bar Council of Rajasthan (BCR) chairman Ram Prasad Singaria on Friday highlighted several pressing issues within the legal system. He emphasised on the need of addressing these concerns, including lack of sheltered seating for the witnesses and litigants in many of the court premises across the state and urged on the need of installation of litigation sheds in all the courts.
Singaria was elected unanimously as the chairman of the council on August 26 and he spoke to TOI on Friday when he was in Jaipur for a short visit.
“A witness in any case is a very important person whose truth brings hope for justice. But it is seen that in courts in smaller areas and towns there is no space for witness and the accused accompanied with police can even influence or intimidate him. So, litigation sheds for the litigants and witness are a necessity in every court,” said Singaria.
The BCR also planned a visit in the smaller courts across the state. “It is seen that lawyers of smaller courts have no proper seating arrangements. There are no restroom facilities for them and their clients. These issues need to be addressed. Bar council and its members will visit to the smaller courts across the state to know the issues and problems faced by the practising lawyers in these courts,” he added.
He said it is also found that there are lesser facilities of washrooms in the court premises and at many places parking is an issue. “Also at many courts there are washrooms but their rooms are locked and the number is not adequate. So that is another thing that needs to be addressed,” he added.
Singharia said that the BCR is planning to compile these issues into a comprehensive report which will be submitted to the CM.
