Bar Elections: Sc Clears Way For Bar Elections On Same Day | Jaipur News

Jaipur: The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to stay simultaneous elections in all the 258 Bar associations on December 8. Rajasthan high court had ordered for the simultaneous elections.
Hearing a special leave petition (SLP) of Rajasthan High Court Lawyers Association and others, the Supreme Court passed the order in the case of advocate Balram Jakhar and others who had stated that the elections should be held on one day.
Abinav Sharma, the counsel for the petitioner Jakhar, said that due to the rejection of the SLP by the Supreme Court, all the Bar associations will have to conduct elections on the same day.
The petitioner unions said that the high court fixed the date of elections without giving them a chance to be heard, whereas their executive had recently been elected. Senior advocate Pallav Sisodia also withdrew the petition with the permission that Rajasthan High Court Lawyers Association and others should be allowed to reconsider the order from the high court.
Responding to it, the division bench of Justice B R Gavai and Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra dismissed the petitions with permission to obtain clarification of the order from the high court only to the extent of the four district associations.
