Beniwal: Beniwal Launches Battle Against ‘bajri Mafia’ With Rally, Dharna | Jaipur News
Jaisalmer: Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) founder and Naguar MP Hanuman Beniwal on Saturday led his party’s ‘halla bol jan hunkar’ rally at Dhorimanna in Barmer district against what he called the “bajri (gravel) mafia” and then in the night sat on dharna outside the district collectorate. At 1am he ended his dharna after the district administration held two rounds of talks with him.
District collector Arun Purohit and SP Digant Anand held the first round of talks after Beniwal arrived with supporters in two vehicles at the district collectorate at about 10pm and sat down on a dharna. The talks remained inconclusive, after which the SDM and ASP came and managed to convince Beniwal to lift the dharna. They reportedly agreed to consider his demands like lodging of FIR against mafia elements, to remove “fake” checkposts, verify mining department employees manning the checkposts, and have the vigilance wing inspect bajri stock and mining on lease deed lands.
Earlier in the day, Beniwal addressed the party rally and said that the BJP cheated him, with then CM Vasundhara Raje denying him an election ticket. He said he had a relationship with Barmer from a previous birth.
He said that a new leadership must emerge and sons of farmers be elected. He said his fight against the bajri mafia started from Barmer and if required, he will gherao the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office. He also accused former CM Vasundhara Raje’s government of colluding with the bajri mafia.
