Bhiwani Deaths: ‘Gau rakshaks attacked cousins in Rajasthan jungle night before death in Bhiwani’ | Jaipur News

JAIPUR/GURGAON: Junaid and Nasir, the cousins from Rajasthan whose charred bodies were found in Haryana’s Bhiwani district on February 16, were attacked by a group of gau rakshaks at Peeruka village in Rajasthan the previous night, officers in Rajasthan police said on Thursday, citing interrogation of the lone accused arrested in the case, scrutiny of call records and witnesses.
Suspecting Junaid and Nasir to be cattle smugglers, the vigilantes – all from Haryana – took them across the state border, allegedly to a police station at Firozpur Jhirka in Nuh. Haryana Police is investigating these allegations but hasn’t disclosed its findings yet.
Senior officers at Bharatpur police in Rajasthan told TOI on Thursday they have enough incriminating evidence to establish the chronology of the crime.
“It is so far evident that the accused assaulted Junaid and Nasir in the jungle area of Peeruka, which is very close to the Haryana border. Some villagers heard screams on February 15 night and we have some of them as witnesses in the case. After beating them up, the abductors took Nasir and Junaid to Firozpur Jhirka early in the morning and eventually to Bhiwani, where they were set on fire,” a senior police officer said.
Asked about the seven suspects – besides Rinku Saini, who has been arrested – named in the list of eight wanted men Rajasthan Police released earlier this week, IG (Bharatpur) Gaurav Srivastav said, “Three of our teams are in Haryana. A team is in Jind. Among eight accused whose role has been established in this crime, at least five are on our radar. It’s just a matter of some time.
After first focusing on Monu Manesar, the Gurgaon-based leader of the network of gau rakshaks in Haryana, police have shifted attention to Jind, from where the Scorpio in which Junaid and Nasir were allegedly abducted was recovered. The Scorpio was parked at Shri Somnath Gaushala near Amarheri village in Jind.
