Jaipur: The administrators and corporators of Jaipur Municipal Corporation-Greater are hopeful of taking up several infrastructure projects in the coming year, now that the BJP has returned to power in the state. They say that the Congress government showed a step-motherly attitude towards the BJP-run civic body in the past three years and did not allott sufficient funds to it.
“Ward wise, area wise, and population wise, we are bigger than JMC-Heritage.But, still, the Congress government allocated less funds toGreater than to Heritage. We are hopeful that with the BJP in power, fund allocation would be even and would help us improve our infrastructure,” said Puneet Karnawat, deputy mayor of JMC-Greater.
In 2020, the Congress government had bifurcated the erstwhile Jaipur Municipal Corporation into JMC-Greater and JMC-Heritage. While the BJP formed the board for JMC-Greater, the Congress came to power in JMC-Heritage in elections held in November 2020.
“We need to improve our services and infrastructure in all the departments. But the two services that have been most affected are waste management and sewerage management. So much so that we had to write letters to the Union government requesting to fix our share of funds. The state government indiscriminately was allotting a lesser amount to us even of the Union government’s funds,” alleged Karnawat.

Arunachal government working to preserve, promote cultural heritage: Minister
The Arunachal Pradesh government is working towards preservation, promotion and documentation of the rich cultural heritage of various tribes of the state through a proper cultural policy, Cultural Affairs Minister Tabe Tedir said. The state has 26 major tribes and more than 100 sub-tribes with diverse culture and traditions of their own. Research works for preservation and promotion of the cultural heritage will greatly benefit the state. The government is taking steps for proper documentation of all tangible and intangible cultural heritages of major tribes.

Greater Hyd minor consolation for BRS
BRS performed well in the assembly elections, particularly in the Greater Hyderabad region. Of the 39 seats won by BRS, nearly half came from GHMC area and nearby constituencies. The Congress party failed to impress voters in Greater Hyderabad, winning no seats. In GHMC limits, BRS won 16 seats, AIMIM won seven, and BJP won one. Apart from these, BRS also retained Medchal and Chevella constituencies. The party’s focus on Hyderabad’s development paid off, with GHMC voters giving them a clear verdict.
