Bomb Blast: 2008 Serial Blasts: Hc Grants Bail In Defused Bomb Case | Jaipur News

Jaipur: A single bench of Rajasthan High Court on Monday granted bail to Mohammed Sarwar Azmi in the 2008 Jaipur bomb blast case related to a bomb that was defused outside Chandpole Hanumangarh temple. Azmi is lodged in jail since January 19, 2009.
Syed Saadat Ali, counsel for Azmi, said that after the accused’s acquittal in Jaipur bomb blast case, theAnti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) rearrested Azmi on December 25, 2019, and despite his acquittal by the high court, he remained in jail.
On March 29 this year, the high court acquitted four accused—Mohammad Saif (32), Mohammad Sarwar Azmi (36), Saif-Ur-Rahman (36) and Salman (34)—who were given capital punishment by the trial court in Jaipur in December 2019.
“We pleaded in the court that in the eight bomb blasts, the HC acquitted the accused on March 29 this year. In the investigation of the defused bomb case, all the evidence and circumstances were the same. Also, Azmi has been in jail since 2009 but no investigation was carried out for the defused bomb,” Ali said.
He added that in the eight serial blasts case the HC had acquitted all the accused. However, the ATS re-arrested Azmi after his acquittal.
Earlier, the trial court had rejected Azmi’s bail.
“We also pleaded that the charge-sheet, witnesses and facts are identical in the case as in the serial blasts case. Thus, he should be given bail,” Ali told TOI.
The high court’s single bench comprising Justice Birendra Kumar granted bail after hearing the arguments by the petitioner’s counsel and by the state government’s advocate.
