BSF: BSF guns down drone near border | Jaipur News

Jaisalmer: At around 8am on Monday, BSF soldiers foiled an attempt to smuggle heroin by drone across the international border near Karanpur area of Sriganganagar district. BSF troops and the local police recovered a packet with 2.52 kg heroin, worth Rs 13 crore in the international market, BSF sources said.
In view of increasing incidents of smugglingthrough drones from across the border, BSF has installed anti-drone systems in many areas along the international border in Rajasthan.BSF sources said that the 77th battalion’s border post at Sekh Sarpal spotted a drone and opened fire at it, causing it to crash down. The drone was recovered at border pillar 325/2s, about 2.6 km from the international border.
Sriganganagar SP Vikas Sharma said searches are being conducted in the area to nab those who were to collect the heroin, which BSF has handed over to the agency concerned for probe, he said.
This year, BSF has recovered a total of 9 drones. In August, BSF recovered 10.85 kg of heroin and on October 13, 2.2 kg of heroin.

Former BSF Jawan and two others get life imprisonment for murder in Deoria
A former BSF jawan and two others have been sentenced to life imprisonment for their involvement in a 2018 murder case in Deoria district, Uttar Pradesh. The victim, Anup Singh, was shot and killed in the Barhaj police station area due to an intense political rivalry. The investigation revealed that the former BSF jawan, Anurag alias Chandan Singh, used an illicit country-made pistol to commit the murder. Eyewitness testimonies from villagers and compelling scientific evidence led to the conviction.
