Jaipur: A self-styled journalist thrashed a 53-year-old builder and extorted Rs 50,000 from him at gunpoint, sparking protests from other businessmen facing the same threats from different scribes.
The victim, Parvindra Bindal, said that the incident took place on Sunday whereas he filed a complaint at the Jawahar Nagar police station on Wednesday.
BJP MLA Kalicharan Saraf and several local businessmen gathered at the police station and demanded the swift arrest of the accused. Bindal in his complaint to the police alleged that one Diwakar Sharma had been calling him for the past several days to demand Rs 5 lakh.
