Burglar rapes woman in city, attacks her neck, hands with blade | Jaipur News
JAIPUR: A man notorious for burglaries raped a 22-year-old woman and attacked her neck with a blade while she was sleeping next to her baby in Mansarovar area and fled with her mobile phone. The woman sustained as many as five injuries on her neck and hands when she tried to fend off the attacker.
The crime was committed late on Monday night, and the victim reported it to police on Tuesday. Police revealed the case only after arresting the accused, Manoj Balai, 25, a native of Nasirda in Tonk district.
DCP (South) Yogesh Goyal said a special team was constituted as soon as the woman reported the incident, and the accused was tracked down. The accused has been booked in the past for burglaries and thefts in Ajmer and Tonk districts, said ACP (Mansarovar) Abhishek Shivhare. Footage of over 200 CCTVs was examined before the accused could be tracked down, he added.
The woman said in her complaint that she was sleeping in a room with her baby while her husband, an auto-rickshaw driver, was away. The accused barged into the house through a window and attacked her, she said. He asked her to keep mum and threatened to kill her with a sharp blade he had picked up from a table next to the bed, she said. He then attacked her neck with the blade and raped her, telling her that one of his gang members was standing guard outside the house, she told police. SHO Hari Pal Singh of Mansarovar police station said Balai fled to Bundi after the incident.
