Cases Filed By Lawyer, His Wife Drive Girl To End Life | Jaipur News
Jaipur: A 19-year-old girl in Kho Nagoriyan committed suicide by hanging herself after a lawyer in her neighbourhood allegedly lodged a string of cases against her and her family. Saloni Rawat hanged herself on June 16 and her family took her to a hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries on Friday.
Speaking to TOI, the suicide victim’s brother Abhishek narrated the ordeal that Saloni had to endure due to one Siyaram Prajapat alias Raghu Prajapat, a lawyer by profession, and his wife Vimlesh Devi. “He (Prajapat) is a lawyer and used his influence to lodge cases against our family. My sister was deeply distressed because we were getting summons from courts every fortnight. Notices were also coming from the police,” Abhishek said.
The FIR was registered against the accused Prajapat and his wife Vimlesh under IPC Section 306 (abetment to suicide). The FIR also states that the accused had promised others that they would get Saloni killed if she ever stepped out of her home. “My sister slipped into depression due to these false cases,” Abhishek said, adding that the accused filed cases such as accusing them of criminal intimidation and recently also complained to authorities that the family was running a dairy without permission.
“We only have a single cow, we don’t have any dairy but the accused kept filing cases against us. They wanted us to move out,” he said.
The police said that a sub-inspector (SI) has been assigned to investigate the case. “We are examining the details of previous cases filed against the victim and her family. The accused will be questioned soon,” said an official.
The police said that they are also preparing a report about the nature of cases filed against Saloni’s family.
