Sms Hosp Set To Get 5g Connectivity For Faster Functioning | Jaipur News
Jaipur: As the Centre is setting up 5G labs in the country, the health experts of the state hope that the research and development in 5G technology will bring revolution in the healthcare sector.
In the series, at the Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital, the state government has launched an integrated hospital management system (IHMS) for seamless functioning of the hospital, which works on the internet. The better the internet connectivity, the better will be the functioning of IHMS.
All the functioning of the SMS Hospital needs to be done on the new IHMS system for more efficient functioning of the hospital.
Under IHMS, all the functioning of the hospital will be done online from writing prescriptions to providing medicines, from issuing lab reports to discharge of patients, all will be done online.
“5G technology will make the system even faster. The IHMS is a system, which is completely online. The 5G will definitely increase the efficiency of the hospital,” said T Ravikanth, principal secretary, (medical education).
The work of cabling of 5G is currently in progress in the SMS Hospital. The workers were busy laying down cables for 5G in the neurosurgery department on Monday.
“The work of laying down the cables will take some time. Once it is done, the facility of 5G will be used in the hospital. It will revolutionise services in the hospital,” said Dr Achal Sharma, medical superintendent, Sawai Man Singh Hospital.
The IHMS was introduced at the hospital a few months ago. There are a lot of modules in IHMS, which are being implemented in the hospital one by one.
“Every function will be done online through IHMS. There are different modules in IHMS like registration of patients, billing, uploading investigation reports, admission, discharge of patients and so on. We are taking each module one by one. Registration of patients, billing, uploading of reports, admission, discharge modules have been implemented in the hospital,” said Dr Sharma.
He said, “At 4G speed, the hospital is facing difficulty in uploading large data and reports. When 5G will be started in the hospital, it will be done faster.”
Since the footfall of patients at SMS Hospital has increased after the implementation of Nirogi Rajasthan, Chiranjeevi Health Insurance Scheme, the SMS medical college and SMS Hospital administration is taking measures for effectively managing crowds and making the hospital more efficient and faster in running the hospital efficiently.
