Chambal Riverfront: Gehlot To Inaugurate 6-km-long Chambal Riverfront On Tuesday | Jaipur News
JAIPUR: Chief minister Ashok Gehlot will inaugurate the much-awaited 6-km-long Chambal Riverfront on September 12. In a press conference at Jaipur on Friday, UDH minister Shanti Dhariwal informed that the following day, the cabinet meeting will be held at Oxygen Park in Kota. “PM Narendra Modi sold the Gujarat Model during the 2014 general election. Our Bhilwara Covid model also earned praise from around the globe. Now, it’s time that Kota will be known for its urban development in the county and in the world,” said Dhariwal.
The estimated cost of the entire project is Rs 1,400 crore spent under various projects like river front, oxygen park, statues, traffic-free roads, LED park etc. “The amount has been spent by the Kota district administration without taking any help from the state and the union government,” said Dhariwal, who added that for the first time, 125 priests will hold prayers on the Chambal River. The riverfront will be free for two months and thereafter entry fees will be charged.
Highlighting the green spaces in Kota, he said, a Miyawaki jungle has been developed with almond trees, which gives an experience of temperature less than 7 degrees Celsius from the outside temperature. Counting the benefits of the traffic-free Kota, he said that from the railway station to the other end, distance has been reduced to 30 minutes from hours. The development project started in July 2020. Responding to a question on whether similar development is possible in other districts, he said, “Since you know that our government will repeat in the state, we will certainly focus on other districts to develop them on these lines.”
