Chaos In Bharatpur Village After Eight Monkeys Found Dead | Jaipur News

Jaipur: There was chaos at Gajuka village under Pahari police station area of Bharatpur on Tuesday when corpses of eight monkeys were spotted by villagers.
Locals, who demanded a fair investigation into the matter, alleged that the monkeys were killed and their corpses were dumped in the area.
Police reached the spot and initiated investigations. Primary probe suggested that either monkeys were victims of food poisoning or they were intentionally poisoned by some persons.
According to police, people gathered at Gajuka village when they spotted bodies of monkeys including infants Locals told police that the monkeys were killed as the corpses had injury marks. “Post-mortem would be done through the medical board. We have initiated a probe after the complaint by locals,” said a senior officer of Pahari police station.
“There are injury marks on their bodies and it is evident that they were freely entering houses and this could be the reason why some persons killed them,” said Shehjaad Khan, a resident of Gajuka village under Pahari police station area.
“After talking to doctors, it was found that either the monkeys had some stale food and became victims of food poisoning or they were poisoned by some persons intentionally. We are awaiting the postmortem report,” the officer added.
Last year, corpses of 15 monkeys were found at Jurhera area, 20km from Pahari area in Bharatpur district.
