Cii To Raj: Consider Land Allotment On Preferential Basis, Not Auction | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: The outgoing CII-Rajasthan chairman Gaurav Rungta on Thursday said that the state government should consider land allocation on preferential basis instead of auction. He said sometimes land cost becomes unviable for projects in many instances due to high price paid through auctions.
Speaking at the annual meeting of CII-Rajasthan, Rungta said the state government has been able to attract investments during the ‘Invest Rajasthan’ and they are just not MoUs or LoIs as 49% of them are already under various stages of implementation.
“It’s a record in the country to country to achieve 49% conversion of MoUs and LoIs into investments. That too, it’s not been even 6 months. As we go forward, the ratio of conversion to real investments will increase further.”
However, he said the state government can gain more and build on the momentum if it considers preferential allotment of land, instead of the existing auctioning process.
In fact, Recently RIICO has opened an window for the MSMEs of the state where they can get land on preferential basis in some identified industrial zones.
Secondly, Rungta said the state government has accepted their demand for creating more facilitation councils and increased the tally from one to 9. Now, he said the focus should be conducting meetings more frequently.
“MSMEs always struggle for working capital. Sometimes their payments from the government departments and PSUs get stuck due to disputes. If these disputes are resolved quickly, they will get liquidity in their hands to run their businesses,” he added.
Similarly, Rungta also suggested that the single window clearance system can be made much more stringer by tracking the proposals online.
Rungta’s one year term as chairman of CII-Rajasthan completed on Thursday. Abhinav Banthia, currently, vice-chairman of the body will take over as the chairman, while Arun Misra, CEO of Hindustan Zinc will take over as vice-chairman of CII-Rajasthan.
