Jaipur: A CISF jawan on election duty was killed after his service rifle went off accidentally. The incident occurred at 6am on Tuesday near Buddhagiri Mandi in Sikar’s Fatehpur.
The deceased, identified as Devi Lal, was serving in the 402 Company in Guwahati, and was engaged in election security duty. Devi Lal hailed from Chanana village in Chirawa, Jhunjhunu.Police are investigating the case. TNN

CISF personnel foil gold smuggling bid at Chennai airport
The Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF) at Chennai airport foiled an attempt to smuggle 1.9 kg of gold. Two ground staffers and a Sri Lankan transit passenger were detained by CISF. The ground handling staffers were found with eight pouches of gold paste concealed in their socks. Another incident earlier that day involved customs officers seizing two kg of gold worth Rs 1.3 crore from a contract worker who was trying to smuggle it out of the airport.
