Class 8 student dies while cleaning overhead tank in Bharatpur district

JAIPUR: A 15-year-old boy, lured to clean an overhead water tank for Rs 100 by a contractor, lost his life after getting trapped in a pipe at Raisis village of Nadbai police station area in Bharatpur on Friday evening.
The victim, Karmveer, was a student in class 8th and was allegedly hired by the contractor, along with two other boys, Sachin (15) and Dhiru (10). After completing the job, the two boys quickly emerged from the tank, but Karmveer got trapped in the pipe when the contractor opened the tank’s valve.
A police official said that the mother complained that all three children were playing behind the contractor Ramlal’s house. The contractor, along with his sons Yadveer and Pushpendra, approached them and persuaded them to clean the tank.
Subsequently, the three children went inside the tank and started cleaning. Ramanlal and Pushpendra then opened the valve to fill water in the tank. As water began to flow into the tank, the two other children immediately came out, while Karmveer remained stuck in the tank’s pipe. A police official said, “On the complaint of the victim’s mother, Omvati, a case has been registered against the accused contractor and his two sons under sections 304 and 34, and the matter is currently under investigation.”
