Congress: Congress May Revisit Gujjar-Jat Combination for CLP Leadership |

Jaipur: The Congress may go back to the Gujjar-Jat combination again at the helm of the party’s affairs in the state. Party sources confided that Sachin Pilot, PCC chief Govind Singh Dotasra and former minister Harish Chaudhary are frontrunners to the post of Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader.
“If the high command favours Pilot forCongress Legislature Party leader, Dotasra or Harish Chaudary is likely to lead the party. If a Jat is made CLP leader, Pilot could be back as PCC president,” said a party source.
Earlier, this combination worked well when Pilot was made PCC president with Jat leader Rameshwar Dudi taking over as the CLP leader.
Banking on this combination, the party bounced back from a humiliating defeat in 2013 with its number reduced to 21, the lowest in the history of the party in the state. Sources say the grand old party may go for the same caste combination again.
It is learned that Chaudhary is also in the race for the post of CLP leader. Chaudhary, who was a strong supporter of outgoing chief minister Ashok Gehlot, has fallen out with him and has been leaning towards Pilot as of recently. His chances are said to be less as the party has to strike a balance of the two groups-Gehlot and Pilot- active in the state.
So, it is likely that Dotasra and Pilot is accommodated in either of the posts.
However, it cannot be denied that that Congress has lost 23 SC reserved seats out of 34 to the BJP. The party has to consider winning back the trust of these sections which was one of the strong vote banks of the Congress. Minister Govind Meghwal himself lost the election.
The sources said a meeting to discuss the poll debacle is scheduled for December 8 in Delhi and appointment ofCongress Legislature Party leader will follow that meeting.
