Congress: Protest Against Bjp Candidate In Bundi | Jaipur News

Kota: A section of BJP workers assembled at Chougan Gate in Bundi city late Saturday evening and shouting slogans of “BJP tujh se bair nahi, Dogra teri khair nahi”, burnt the effigy of their sitting MLA, Ashok Dogra, after the party announced him as its candidate, for the 4th time, in its second list of 83 candidates released earlier in the afternoon.
Businessman-turned-politician Ashok Dogra, 70, a Kashmri by birth, settled with his family in Bundi when he was a young man. He began his innings in politics in 2008 under the mentorship of former chief minister Vasundhra Raje and lodged his maiden win against Congress’s Mamta Sharma, repeating the win thrice in assembly polls, though the last time it was by a slim margin against twice MLA and former minister Harimohan Sharma in 2018.
This time, Dogra, sensing the changed political equations in the state BJP, shifted to local MP Om Birla’s lobby and succeeded in securing his ticket.
Party workers in Bundi, who expected a fresh face in the polls this time, were left disappointed. According to local experts, this could benefit the rival Congress, if it brings someone fresh and energetic to cash in on the resentment. BJP workers and ex-office bearers in Bundi said that Dogra, at the very onset of his political career, placed his men in the city organization and sidelined old party workers who believed in the party’s ideology.
