Congress Tickets: Nominations Filing Begins, Yet No Cong, Bjp Tickets For Several Seats | Jaipur News

Jaipur: Even as nomination filing began on Monday, both BJP and Congress are yet to announce a major chunk of their candidates. While Congress announced only 95 candidates, the BJP has announced candidates for 124 seats in the 200-member assembly. It is said that both parties are waiting for the other to make the next move. The Congress Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting has been going on in Delhi for the last two days to finalise the remaining candidates. The last date for filing the nomination is November 6.
Since the announcements of the candidates have been delayed, election fever has not yet gripped the poll-bound state. The Congress had earlier announced that this time the party candidates would be announced about three months in advance so that they could prepare for the election instead of running around leaders in Delhi for tickets and wasting their energy and money. But none of the announcements have materialised so far. The Congress is treading on the beaten track and last-minute announcements of some candidates are not ruled out.
The BJP made the first move in announcing the candidates, but its initiative has run into troubled waters. Some of the candidates announced had to face stiff resistance and protest from local leaders. The party seems to have pressured the pause button and seems to be waiting for Congress to make the next move. The BJP core committee meeting is scheduled only on Tuesday.
