Jaipur: Contractual workers appointed at University of Rajasthan started an indefinite protest on Tuesday outside the vice-chancellor’s secretariat demanding that they must be included and considered under the Rajasthan Contract Hiring to Civil Posts Rules, 2022.
The protest called by the Contractual Workers Association of the university also demanded to increase the salary of contract workers by 600 per day along with insurance on accident or death of any worker. The employees said that at present, they are given salary for 26 days instead of the full month as the agency through which they are hired, gets the money. The employees are also demanding full month’s pay.
Due to the protest, neither food was cooked nor cleaning was done at a few girls’ hostels in the university on Tuesday, which in turn led to protest by students at the VC secretariat regarding their problems.
