The ranking of JMC-Heritage among 40 cities with a population over 10 lakh is 26th. Out of 7,500 marks, the corporation secured 4230.96 marks.
Similarly, JMC-Greater secured 32nd rank. It got 3,877.28 marks.
Despite having a big team of sanitation workers along with two mayors and officers, the Pink City could not secure a place in the top 20 list.
A senior official at local self-government (LSG) said, “Though there is slight improvement in the ranking, the cleanliness standard remains far below. In 2021, the heritage corporation got 32nd rank and Greater secured 36th rank. However, this ranking was given after evaluating cleanliness survey of 48 cities”.
The corporations in the state capital could not perform better to receive the certificates and star rating.
In Swachh Survekshan 2022, both the corporations lost 400-400 marks.
Even in the list of 380 cities with a population of 1 lakh to 10 lakh, not a single city from Rajasthan has come in the top 100.
The Municipal Corporation of Jodhpur (South) of Jodhpur district has got 112th rank, which is the best in this category in the state. Jhunjhunu is at the lowest position in the state with 380 ranks.
Bilara of Rajasthan has won the award for Best City for Citizen Feedback in the West Zone among cities with a population between 15,000 to 50,000.
The 7th edition of Swachh Survekshan was conducted to study the progress of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) and rank the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) based on various cleanliness and sanitation parameters.
The Survekshan has evolved from being an assessment of 73 cities in 2016 to covering 4,354 cities this year.
