Criminals given free pass in Rajasthan, state benevolent to terrorists: PM Narendra Modi

JAIPUR: PM Narendra Modi accused Congress in the state on Monday of giving criminals a free pass, being benevolent towards terrorists, joining its allies in badmouthing Sanatan Dharma, and blatantly resorting to appeasement politics with an eye on votes.
“A person’s throat was slit and the state government acted like it was helpless,” he told a large gathering at Jaipur’s Dadiya Gram, with a sizeable number of women from across the state, alluding to the beheading of tailor Kanhaiyalal in Udaipur last year. “This wasn’t a regular crime – it was the outcome of Congress’s politics of appeasement.”
In pursuance of the same policy, Congress and its allies are now talking about “rooting out Sanatan Dharma”, the PM said. “They have declared their intent to eradicate our identity for a few votes…The ghamandiya gathbandhan (referring to INDIA) will have to bear the cost in the coming elections and beyond.”
Modi’s tirade against Congress and pitch for BJP at the conclusion of the saffron party’s statewide Sankalp Parivartan Yatra followed a visit to the birthplace of Deendayal Upadhyaya at Dhankya to mark his birth anniversary.
Blaming the Ashok Gehlot government for repeated paper leaks ahead of recruitment exams, he said, “Those who played with the future of youth for five years won’t be spared.”
Women power PM’s rally in city, lend shine to show
Thousands of women from the hamlets, towns and cities across Rajasthan came dressed up to attend PM Narendra Modi’s rally in Jaipur on Monday as if they were showing up for a festival. They gave the rally venue at Dadiya Gram a festive look.
While BJP held the rally to officially mark the end of its Parivartan Sankalp Yatra in the state, for the women, it was a thanksgiving to PM Modi for bringing the Women’s Reservation Bill and getting it passed in both Houses of Parliament.
From anchoring of the programme to welcoming Modi on the stage, all aspects of the event were handled by women. Rajsamand MP Diya Kumari and BJP national secretary Alka Gurjar managed the stage. Over 100 women, singing and waving hands, escorted the vehicle in which the PM travelled.
The entire right side of the audience space was reserved for women, and yet they were seen jostling for a glimpse of the PM. “It was a great experience to host this power-packed event. Calling senior leaders for their address and reminding them of time was a learning experience,” said Diya Kumari, who anchored the programme for two hours and a half along with Gurjar, to TOI.
Former CM Vasundhara Raje was not seen at the programme till Modi arrived, and this sparked speculation among BJP workers and leaders. Raje and state BJP president CP Joshi received Modi at the helipad near the venue. She did not deliver a speech at the programme as it was running late but was seen having a chat with the PM during Joshi’s welcome speech. Speculations about Raje got a twist when BJP’s state leaders welcomed Modi with a huge garland around him, and it was only Raje in it with the PM. “The message that went across was that Raje is the party’s senior leader in the state with an indisputable importance,” said a BJP leader. BJP media panellist Nimisha Gaur said that the rally was a practically a festival for women supporters of BJP. “Perhaps for the first time, an entire big event was managed by women,” she said.
