JAIPUR: Union home minister Amit Shah had a close shave on Tuesday when his “rath” (a specially built truck) ran into a tangle of low-hanging TV cable and electric wires at Parbatsar in Deedwana-Khuchaman while heading to a rally.
The vehicle was passing through a dense area with buildings on both sides when cops at the spot spotted the danger. “The rath was stopped and Shah shifted to another vehicle,” said an eyewitness.
RajasthanBJP spokesperson Laxmikant Bhardwaj slammed the Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government. “This shows the careless attitude of the government. It has not been able to sanitise the route of the home minister of the country.”
Deedwana-Khuchaman SP Alok Srivastava said an “inquiry has already started”. “By tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon, the report will be on my table.”
Sita Ram Jat, a senior official in CM’s office, asked the DM to initiate a probe.
