Jaipur: Dera Ashwa trounced Team Himgiri to emerge champions in the Dera Ashwa Polo Cup, organized by Rajputana Riding and Polo Club, here on Monday.
In an one-sided summit clash, hosts Dera Ashwa outclassed Team Himgiri 11-6 to clinch the title.
Vishal Singh turned out to be the chief architect for Dera Aswha team with eight goals. The experienced campaigner struck goals at regular intervals in all the four quarters to lead his team to a five-goal victory.
Vishal was well supported by Divyamaan Singh, who chipped in with three goals for the triumphant team.
Team Himgiri played well in patches but could not stop their rampaging opponents. Dino Dhankhar fought hard for them, slamming four goals.
Sikar district upset Jaipur to win state tennis crown
Unfancied Sikar stunned defending champions Jaipur 2-1 to win the Inter-District men’s tennis tournament title at the Jamna Tennis Academy here on Monday.
Top seeds Jaipur was given a winning start by Yash Chhabda when he downed Anil Hooda 10-2 in the first men’s singles.
However, Sikar’s Priyanshu Choudhary shocked Prince Raj 10-4 to restore parity. In the deciding men’s doubles, the duo of Priyanshu and Anil got the better of Yash and Prince 6-4, 6-4 to clinch the crown. tnn
