Docs Advise Caution As Kite Flyers Keep Flooding Hosps With Injuries | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Six-year-old Vivek’s hands clasped the neck of his father, who held him tight on his waist and hurried down the corridors of Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedics (ITO) at Sawai Man Singh Hospital. The boy’s entire head was covered with bandages. Vivek had fallen from the terrace of his house at Udaipurwati in Jhunjhunu while flying kites five days ago. He was operated upon for a fractured skull and a brain injury he suffered.
“It is a miraculous escape for him,” said his father, Priyanshu, 40, as he completed the formalities required for discharging the boy from the hospital. “I shall urge my son’s teachers at his school to make children aware of the dangers in flying kites. What happened to my child should not happen to any other child,” said Priyanshu, a motorbike mechanic.
In room No. 113 of ITO, a 7-year-old boy was under treatment for a similar head injury, but less serious. “He fell from the rooftop while chasing a kite yesterday. He is fine now. His reports are normal. Since fell from 10-12 feet height, he did not suffer a serious injury,” said his father Pradeep Maurya, a resident of Kho Nagauriyan.
“Three children were brought here earlier today with cuts on their faces and necks caused by the threads of kites. The cuts were not deep. They were provided with treatment and sent back home as they did not require hospitalization,” said a doctor at ITO.
