Pak Hindus: After Razing Homes Of Pak Hindus In Jaisalmer, Admin Gives Food, Shelter | Jaipur News

Jaisalmer: As the BJP raised an outcry over the demolition of homes and eviction from government land of Pakistan-displaced Hindus residing in Amarsagar village, the Jaisalmer district administration on Wednesday started arranging food and shelter for the families it had rendered homeless the previous day.
District collector Tina Dabi ordered that the migrants be accommodated in the local ‘Rain Basera’ night shelter and food be provided to them. Apart from this, a committee was formed to identify land where migrants who had obtained Indian citizenship could be settled and those who were yet to get citizenship could be given a place to reside. It was also decided that guidance would be sought from the state government for a permanent solution to this problem.
After this, the evicted migrants lifted their dharna outside the district collectorate and their representative, Kishanraj Bhil, thanked the district administration for the relief provided.
Dabi also held a press conference where she said that the displaced Hindus had erected makeshift houses on government land and the Amarsagar lake’s catchment area, to remove which notices were being given to them since April. She said some new encroachments were made in the past 10 days on land that had been allotted to the urban improvement trust (UIT).
Dabi said that the district administration had started taking steps for rehabilitation of the evicted migrants, including forming a survey team comprising officials of the district administration, UIT, and representatives of the displaced Hindus to identify land for their rehabilitation. Till then, she said, the displaced people will be accommodated in night shelters and the district administration will provide them with food and other necessities. SDM Jagdish Singh Asiya said the displaced Hindus had built temporary settlements on a prime location of UIT land and were not cooperating with the district administration.
