Dtr: Mining Lobby Opposes Dholpur Tiger Reserve | Jaipur News
Jaipur: Licensed mine owners have opposed the state forest department’s decision to notify the proposed Dholpur Tiger Reserve (DTR), which recently received in-principle approval from the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA).
Mine owners fear the reserve will harm the industry. The mining submitted a memorandum to the district administration in this regard. Association member Madan Mohan said, “The industry was facing several restrictions after Kailadevi wildlife was declared. The new tiger reserve boundaries will hamper it further.”
An expert committee constituted to define the boundaries of the proposed DTR has completed its inspection. A committee member said, “No mining area will be included in the reserve. In fact, it will be excluded to avoid problems.Once eco-sensitive zone (ESZ) is fixed, mining activities outside will not be disturbed.” TNN
