Dudu will be a separate district as announced in Budget: MLA Babulal Nagar | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: Even as CM Ashok Gehlot indicated a day earlier that the Jaipur district could be bifurcated into Jaipur City and Jaipur Rural, Independent MLA from Dudu constituency Babulal Nagar asserted that the areas under his constituency will be carved into Dudu district as initially announced. Local leaders of Sambhar-Phulera, who too have been demanding a separate district, are also not happy with including the twin towns in the proposed Jaipur Rural.
Speaking to TOI on Tuesday, Nagar said the CM had announced Dudu as a new district in his Budget speech this year and cannot alter that decision easily now.
“Dudu has to be a separate district. Today, the state government has deployed a special officer for Dudu. He has been transferred from Jaipur Rural. This indicates that Dudu would be a separate district as per the initial plan,” Nagar said.
The Sambhar-Phulera Zila Sangarsh Samiti is also adamant about getting a separate district status for the twin towns.
Kailash Sharma of the samiti said, “The only option for the government is to grant district status to Sambhar-Phulera and merge Dudu with it. The twin towns are much older than Dudu tehsil. Other areas such as Nawan town will be happy to merge with the twin towns rather than Dudu.”
Local residents of Sambhar and Phulera have expressed disappointment at CM for not extending an invitation to their representatives to attend the crucial meeting on new districts on June 26.
Admn wants Jaipur city to be headquarter of both districts
Meanwhile, the district administration has welcomed the bifurcation move, but wants the government to make Jaipur city the headquarters of both the proposed new districts for the convenience of administrative work and citizens.
“Forget all political equations, the basic idea of bifurcation is to ensure that people have to travel less to reach their respective district headquarters. The city is strategically located in the middle of the district and the best place to have the headquarters even for rural areas,” said a senior district official.
There’s nothing new in making a ‘big’ and adjacent city of a rural district, but which is not a part of it, its district headquarters. There are even cases of two district headquarters located in the same city. So, it won’t be a hindrance if the government wants to implement this idea, he said.
“In terms of travel too, the city is ideally located and connected to places in the rural area. So, people from across the district can reach Jaipur easily. This will be an added advantage,” another official said.
Babulal Nagar and Chaksu MLA Ved Prakash Solanki welcomed the move. “I don’t mind if the city becomes the headquarters of Jaipur Rural. Even the Rural SP office is in the city at present. However, we have to wait and see how the government demarcates the districts,” Solanki said.
