Ec Sets Up 36 Centres In State For Counting Of Votes On Dec 3 |

Jaipur: State’s chief electoral officer (CEO) Praveen Gupta said there will be 36 centres for counting of votes for the 199 assembly constituencies on December 3. There will be two counting centres each in Jaipur, Jodhpur and Nagaur districts. In the remaining 30 districts, there will be one centre each.
Gupta said the counting of votes will start with postal ballots at 8 am.EVM (electronic voting machine) counting will begin at all the centres at 8.30 am. “Tight security arrangements have been made at the counting centres and its surrounding areas. Three-tier security arrangements have been made for the entry into the counting centre so that there is no disruption of any kind at the centre,” said Gupta.
To ensure complete impartiality in counting, the ‘Mandatory Verification’ method adopted by the Election Commission will also be conducted. Under this, after counting of votes, 5 VVPATs will be selected by lottery from polling stations of each assembly. Their slips will be counted and tallied with EVM votes. “The counting and tallying of the slips from VVPAT machines will take place under the supervision of the returning officers, observers and in the presence of candidates or their agents,” added Gupta.
The Election Commission on Wednesday provided training through video conferencing to all district election officers, deputy district election officers, returning officers, additional returning officers and IT staff for the counting day on December 3.

The district has more women voters than men, and the command of counting of votes has been handed over to women only. A total of 194 women employees are being trained for counting. The district administration has assigned various roles to women officers, including supervising the counting of EVMs and postal ballots, carrying EVMs, and announcing the results. LED screens have been installed in counting rooms to display the results. The district also had an all transgender polling station in the first phase of elections. In Raipur, the EVMs are being safeguarded in strong rooms under tight security.
