Agra power department officials suspended for bribery, negligence
Two junior engineers in the Agra power department have been suspended for accepting bribes from a farmer. Additionally, an executive engineer and a sub-division officer were suspended for negligence in their supervisory roles. The junior engineers were arrested after an FIR was filed against them. An internal investigation has been ordered, and no action has been taken against the sub-inspectors and constable named in the complaint. The farmer had applied for an electricity connection and was temporarily accessing electricity from his tubewell. The accused demanded a bribe of Rs 80,000, which was eventually settled for Rs 35,000.
