Jaipur: People of various communities in Jaipur and other parts of the state celebrated Eid, Akshay Tritiya and Parashuram Jayanti on Saturday with traditional fervour without any incident of communal disharmony. Members of the Muslim community were seen greeting people from other communities after offering the Eid Ki Namaz.
On Akshay Tritiya, which is considered auspicious for the Hindu weddings, nearly 4,000 weddings were solemnised in Jaipur district, according to an estimate by the association of tent dealers. Most of the marriage lawns were booked for weddings. People were in a shopping spree at Johari Bazaar, many purchasing gold jewellery on the auspicious occasion of Akshay Tritiya.
“On a usual day, the regular footfall does not convert into business. But on Akshay Tritiya, we recorded good sales of jewellery,” said Sanjay Jain, a jeweller at Johari Bazaar.
Members of the Muslim community, clad in white kurta and pajama, celebrated Eid-Ul-Fitr and prayed for the wellbeing of the state and the country. A large number of devotees gathered at Eidgah near Delhi Bypass, where they greeted one another after offering the namaz. Children were jubilant after getting Eidi from their elders. Namaz was offered at Jama Majjid, Meerji Bagh ki Majjid and various other mosques across the city.
In the evening, members of the Hindu community offered prayers at the temples on the occasion of Parashuram Jayanti. Many people gathered at Parashuram Circle at Vidyadhar Nagar and offered prayers by lighting lamps. Similar celebrations were seen across the state on Parshuram Jayanti, and religious procession were taken out.
