Election Commission: 199 In Fray For 19 Seats In Jaipur Dist | Jaipur News

Jaipur: With the last date of withdrawal of nominations over on Thursday, a total of 199 candidates remain in the fray for the 19 assembly constituencies in Jaipur district.
On the last day, 46 candidates decided to retract their nominations across the 19 seats. Earlier, 35 nomination forms had been rejected by the election commission.
An offical said that by November 6, the last date for filing nominations, a total of 298 candidates had submitted their nomination papers for constituencies in Jaipur district.Subsequent scrutiny on November 7 led to the disqualification of 35 nominees due to various deficiencies. Following this, two additional days were allotted for the withdrawal of nominations, on November 8 and 9. “During this period, 55 candidates voluntarily withdrew their nominations,” the official said.
On the last day for withdrawal, 46 candidates retracted their nominations, the most prominent of them being Rajpal Singh Shekhawat, a former MLA and cabinet minister during Vasundhara Raje’s tenure, who had rebelled against the BJP and opted to run as an independent for the Jhotwara assembly seat.
Four candidates from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) withdrew their nominations and lent support to other candidates. These were Arun Chaturvedi from Civil Lines, Ramlal Chaudhary from Sanganer, Hasan Raja from Adarsh Nagar, and Tarusha Parashar from Hawa Mahal.
Ranjit Singh Sodala from Civil Lines also decided to withdraw his nomination, providing relief to the BJP.
In the 2018 elections, Jaipur district saw 347 candidates contending for the 19 seats. The Kishanpole seat had the highest number of candidates with 46, while Chaksu had the fewest with only six.
In the current election, Jhotwara has the highest number of candidates at 18 and Dudu has the fewest at 4 .

The Congress party will hold a public meeting in Kamareddy, where Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah will release the Backward Classes declaration of the party. Revanth accused the government of neglecting Kodangal and promised to bring water to the area and complete various projects if Congress is voted to power.
