Eurasian Griffon Vulture Rescued Near Nahargarh | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: An injured Eurasian Griffon vulture was rescued from near Nahargarh sanctuary on Saturday after it was spotted by a birder. The bird is undergoing treatment at the Jaipur zoo.
The bird is likely to have gotten injured by a kite flying string and fell, said members of the rescue team.
“We got a call from a birder who was in the area, informing that an injured vulture was lying in the forest. Our team reached the spot to rescue the bird and found that its wings had been injured. From the wound, it can be estimated that the bird might have been injured four to five days ago and had been at the same spot since it fell. The bird is currently being treated at the Jaipur zoo,” said Lakhan Khokhar, from Masoom Care Foundation, the NGO that rescued the bird.
After treatment, the bird will be released in the wild once again.
Eurasian Griffon vultures are commonly not found in this region, but it could have been flying to another destination with this region falling in its flight route. Khokhar added that if such incidents take place frequently, then it can impact the flying pattern of the bird.
