Will penalise officials, traders if safety norms flouted: CM
In response to the Attibele firecracker incident that claimed 14 lives, the government of Karnataka has decided to tighten regulations on firecracker shops and godowns. Traders will now be required to renew their licenses annually instead of every five years, and strict safety norms will be enforced. The government will inspect all firecracker godowns in the state to ensure compliance with safety specifications, and traders will need to obtain no-objection certificates from the police and fire departments during license renewal. The government also plans to review all existing licenses and punish any violations.
