Zanana Hospital: Zanana Hospital Seeks Human Milk Bank On Lines Of Other Unit In Jaipur | Jaipur News

Jaipur: The Zanana Hospital administration has written to the state government demanding a human milk bank so that the infants born in the hospital can have access to it in case they do not get mother’s milk for medical reasons.

A lot of newborns are underweight, and they require proper nutrition, the administration has said. Human milk also helps increase immunity against diseases, it said.
“We need a human milk bank in our hospital so that the newborns who are deprived of breastfeeding can get milk donated by mothers in the milk bank,” said a Zanana Hospital official.

Necrotizing enterocolitis, septicaemia, coronary artery disease, recurrent infections and other sorts of diseases are common among infants who do not get mother’s milk due to some health related problems their mothers are facing.
Mahila Chikitsalaya has such bank. Zanana Hospital is demanding a similar human milk bank to provide sterile non-infected breast milk to sick newborn babies and those deprived of mother’s milk due to lactation failure or other medical reasons.
World Breastfeeding Week was celebrated at the Government Nursing College of SMS Hospital on Sunday.
