Fire At Barmer Plant Destroys Solar Panels | Jaipur News
Jaisalmer: A large number of solar panels were turned to ashes when an under-construction private solar plant, ACME, at Shiv Arang village of Barmer district was hit by fire late on Tuesday evening.
Officials of Shiv police station said the fire started in a truck carrying cartons filled with material for the solar plant and spread to the solar plant. The strong winds at the time caused it to spread throughout the plant. The truck driver, risking his life, took the truck away from the solar plant premises. As the fire spread from the truck’s body to the driver’s seat, the driver saved his life by jumping out. By the time the fire brigade reached, there was a loss of lakhs of rupees. The fire was brought under control after an effort of about one and a half hours.
The fire started when material sealed in paper cartons was being filled in the truck, said SHO Rampratap of Shiv police station.
