Jaipur: A group of five men in an SUV allegedly attacked and harassed a girl and her cousin and also tried to forcibly drag them out from their car in Mansarovar on Monday night. The men were allegedly drunk.
The 29-year-old complainant in the case said that he had gone to dinner with his sister and two cousins. The four of them were returning from a restaurant in Malviya Nagar in a car. “While we were passing through Rajat Path, one SUV began following our car. There were about five men inside who soon came close to our car and began making obscene gestures,” the complainant said, adding that they soon unleashed a stream of invectives.
According to the FIR, the accused deliberately blocked the complainant’s car using their SUV and compelled him to come to a halt. “The accused stepped out of their SUV and attacked me. One of them also punched me. When I asked them what had happened, the accused said that we were creating a nuisance,” the complainant said, adding that the accused claimed to be student leaders.
One of the girls said that the accused harassed them and threatened to abduct them into their SUV. “They wanted to pull us out of our car. My cousin was sitting next to me, and the accused tried to drag her out, too,” she said, adding that the accused kept threatening them, claiming to be student leaders from Rajasthan University.
She said that no one came to their help until some youths in a car stopped to see the commotion. “The accused fled when the car arrived,” she said.
The family approached the Mansarovar police station and filed an FIR. Police said that they had rounded up two suspects, Bishan and Tikam Chandra, in the case.
ACP (Mansarovar) Abhishek Shivhare said that the primary investigation suggests that the case was due to some dispute.
The FIR was lodged against unnamed accused under multiple IPC sections, including 354 (assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 341 (wrongful restraint), and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt).
