Flu Triggers Patient Rush To Sms Hosp For X-rays | Jaipur News

JAIPUR: The increasing number of patients suffering from influenza and other illnesses has led to an influx of patients queuing up for x-rays at the Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital and the malfunctioned online registration system at the x-ray department has only added to the woes of the staff, who are facing a hard time in managing the rush of patients.
The flow of patients was so high on Monday that the glass shield of the room number 9 counter of the x-ray department also broke due to the commotion at the counter. Normally on Mondays the hospital witnesses more rush of patients compared to other days and the influenza case has only added to the number.
The staff at the x-ray counter was registering the patients manually as the online registration system had been out of order, which was causing delay in registration. There were patients waiting in long serpentine queues, which led to some commotion. “For the past 4-5 days, the online system has not been working, which is why the hospital staff was doing it manually,” said Dr Kuldeep Mendiratta, head of department of radiodiagnosis, SMS hospital.
The department of radiodiagnosis has informed the hospital administration about the malfunctioned online system. On an average 3,000 patients get their x-rays done at SMS hospital and its Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedics wing daily. The hospital administration pointed out that they are working on rectifying the issues to get the registration done for x-ray through online. “The entire hospital’s work will be done through an integrated health management system. We are implementing it in a phase wise manner to do all the work online,” said Dr Achal Sharma, medical superintendent, SMS hospital.
The patients with severe symptoms of influenza are being advised to get their x-day done for lungs, which has led to an increase in the number of x-rays done daily.
“In the past few days, there has been an increase in x-rays and even HRCT as cases of pneumonia, influenza and bronchitis have increased. Hence it is important people should again start following Covid appropriate behaviour. In the past 2-3 years, when people followed Covid appropriate behaviour due to Covid pandemic, such cases were less but this time around, there is an increase in such cases,” said Dr Ajit Singh, superintendent, RUHS hospital.
