For Safety, Traffic Violators ‘mast’ Listen & Follow Inspector Pk’s Smart Sermons | Jaipur News
JAIPUR: Cops often interact with traffic violators sternly, leading to verbal spats. However, traffic inspector Praveen Kumar, also known as ‘PK Mast’, has been winning hearts with his style of dealing with such violators.
PK not only emphasises on traffic rules, but also teases violators in a witty manner with the intention of updating them with traffic rules. Such is his popularity, that his ‘sermons’ are often posted on social media and attract thousands of views.
TOI on Thursday met PK at Ajmeri gate traffic signal while he was busy interacting with a violator who was riding without helmet.
“Kya Nam hai tumhara (What is your name),” he asks the violator. “Mera naam Hemraj hai,” the violator replies. “Tumko Yamraj saath le jayenge ek din agar bina helmet ke chalogey,” he tells the violator and allows him to leave with a condition that he will immediately buy a helmet from nearby Kamla Nehru Market.
Asked why he is so lenient towards traffic violators, he said, “ Our job is also to educate those who don’t take traffic norms seriously. Penalising them is of course our action, but if we will tell them in a witty yet meaningful way on how wearing a helmet can save a life and how seat belts are a must, the violator will certainly understand it. I believe anything said politely is better understood than things said in a rude manner.”
PK said he has been assigned the task of educating the violators. “Many a times, a person jumping traffic lights, not carrying his documents gets a heavy penalty. But during my interaction with such people, I tell them how following norms while driving is necessary for his and his family’s safety,” PK added.
He has also educated school students through poems penned by him on traffic violations. “I usually tell people if they drive fast they will have to look for another bed at the hospital and in those circumstances who will take care of the relative already admitted,” he said.
