Former Kota MP: Former Kota MP Narrowly Escapes as Driver Dies at Wheel | Jaipur News

Kota: Former MP from Kota-Bundi, Ijayraj Singh, had a narrow escape on Saturday evening when his car driver suffered sudden cardiac arrest near Ranpur in Kota while driving the car.
The car was not at high speed and no other vehicle was following close behind, Singh’s office said. Singh, who was sitting on the front passenger’s seat, pulled the emergency break and controlled the vehicle.He took the driver to New Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him as brought dead.
The deceased driver was identified as Khalid, 50, resident of Gandhi Nagar in Kota.
According to the ex-MP’s office, Singh and his personal assistant Hitesh Malviya were returning from polling booths in Ladpura constituency when Khalid met with cardiac arrest at around 5.30pm. Singh’s wife, Kalpna Devi, is contesting the assembly election on BJP ticket from Ladpura assembly seat of Kota.

Kolkata Traffic Police is increasing prosecutions for drink driving outside popular pubs and eateries. They have started random checks on drivers leaving these establishments and are conducting daily naka checks. There were 359 prosecutions for drink driving in the past eight days, averaging around 45 per day. The police aim to reduce drink driving accidents even further than in 2022, which had the lowest number of such accidents. Traffic guards have been directed to carry breath-analyzers and patrol tow trucks may be deployed. The police have appealed to pub-hoppers to hire a chauffeur and not drink and drive.

A lawyer died of cardiac arrest in a courtroom in Vadodara. The Baroda Bar Association cancelled an event to felicitate its president. Advocate Jagdishrao Jadhav collapsed in the courtroom and was declared dead at the hospital. His death postponed the event to felicitate Nalin Patel, the association’s president.
