Fugitive, Wanted In 15 Cases, Hurt In Bikaner Police Firing | Jaipur News
Jaipur: A fugitive wanted in at least 15 criminal cases including loot, Arms Act, attempt to murder and others, was injured in retaliatory firing in Bikaner on Thursday. A police team raided his Jhunjhunu hideout and detained him initially. He later snatched the service revolver of a policeman and fired at him and threatened other cops. In retaliatory firing by police, he was injured and admitted to a hospital.
According to police, a reward of Rs 7,000 was on his head. “We were carrying out a crackdown against fugitives especially those associated with organised gangs. Through informers’ network, we got an input that the accused identified as Deependra Singh alias Deepu was hiding at his village Kali Pahadi in Jhunjhunu district. A team led by senior police officers raided the place and detained Deepu,” said Om Prakash, IG, Bikaner Range on Friday.
As the police team entered the limits of Bikaner district, the accused asked the policemen if he could take a pee break. “When he was taken, he snatched the pistol of Sanjay Singh, the in-charge Kotwali police station in Bikaner, and fired in the air and threatened the police team. One of the policemen present there fired on his leg to overpower him. He was detained and arrested,” he added.
He was later admitted to PBM Hospital in Bikaner under tight security cover.
Senior police officers said he was also associated with Rohit Godara gang. “He would be interrogated to know his connection in the gangs,” he added.
